Leaving Mullion and heading east, we stopped at Restormel Castle, near Lostwithiel. From outside, it looks like a fairly well-preserved shell castle ... |

... but inside was in ruins. |

We paused briefly in the village of Ottery St Mary, just east of Exeter, to look at the remarkable church, which included this stained glass. |

Then we spent much longer admiring the beautiful garden at Montacute House, near Yeovil. |

This was our B&B in Cary Fitzpaine. Indeed, it was the entire village of Cary Fitzpaine. Very comfortable, but rather remote: we had to drive some distance to find an evening meal in a rather unwelcoming pub. |
After we left Cary Fitzpaine, we drove to Winchester and looked at the Cathedral, then on to a B&B in Windsor before catching a flight to Paris the next day. It was a very grey day, and we did not take any worthwhile pictures. So now we go on to France.
