Portland and the journey south

We took a day trip from Portland along the Columbia River gorge. | |

|
Heading south, we paused at Heceta Head, where the river had brought a large tree down to the shore. | |
|
We stayed overnight in Requa, in an old hotel overlooking the Requa River. | |
|
||
|
Up on the headland, the fog was again rolling in from the sea. | |
|
A little further south is Eureka, with some remarkable wooden buildings. | |
|
||
|
And Art Deco fire hydrants! |
