Fremantle: South Terrace Apartment, 142 South Terrace.
Found through Trip Advisor, this was a comfortable apartment in a mixed-use (residential, shops and offices) block, with a lift. One of the free Fremantle CAT (Central Area Transit) bus routes stopped at the door, or it was some 10 minutes' walk (at our speed) from the centre of Fremantle. Some good local shops nearby.

  Geraldton: Mantra,221 Foreshore Drive. www.mantra.com.au
This seemed to be in an apartment block adjacent to the original Mantra, that had been taken over for use as hotel rooms. It was comfortable and had a lift. It was a bit far for us to walk to the centre of town, but there was a good restaurant on the waterfront on the ground floor.

New Norcia Hotel. www.newnorcia.wa.edu.au †/*
Originally built as accommodation for Aboriginal parents visiting their "stolen generation" children, this building provided rather spartan rooms for tourists. All the rooms were on the first floor and there was no lift, but the desk staff very happily carried our bags. The restaurant was not bad, which was just as well as there was nowhere else to eat at night.

Hyden Hotel-Motel. waverockhotel.com.au
A hotel with many motel rooms, this was about the only place in town apart from a caravan park. All rooms were at ground level. There was a dining room serving a carved roast buffet or a bar with cook-it-yourself steaks.

Kalgoorlie: Quest Yelverton Apartments, 210 Egan Street. www.questapartments.com.au
A comfortable motel room, although the reception staff member was less than welcoming. We had a ground floor apartment, and it was an easy 5-minute walk to the town centre. Photo: Google Maps.

Esperance: Island View Apartments, 15 The Esplanade. www.esperanceapartments.com.au
A very comfortable ground floor apartment on the waterfront, in easy walking distance from the town centre. There are some photos of the interior and the view from the window here.

Albany: Best Western Motel, Frederick Street. www.bestwestern.com.au
A large and very typical motel, in easy walking distance from the town centre. We requested and were given a ground floor room.

Margaret River: Prideau's, 31 Fearn Avenue. prideaus.com.au
Quite small (11 units), but with a variety of kinds of room. We had a ground floor room with a small courtyard at the back. It was comfortable and one short block from the main street.

Perth: Zenith City Centro, 101 Murray Street.
This was a private rental found through AirBnB: a well-appointed apartment on the 14th floor of this city centre block. Easy walking to much of the city centre, and free bus services for the longer journeys. Photo: Google Maps.
