| Our first day in Sablet, we visited Aigues-Mortes, a town founded by King Saint Louis to launch a crusade to invade the Holy Land. It has not changed much since then. |

These are the south walls of Aigues-Mortes. They are actually straight, but the panorama view distorts them to look curved. † |

The Tower of Constance, built into the northern town walls. It is possible to climb the tower and get onto the walls, but we did not do that on this visit. * |

We visited a chapel of the Penitents Grise, a religious lay fraternity which does good deeds and exists to this day, along with penitents of several other colours. Their chapel is in need of repair but has an amazing stucco altar with angels and twisted columns, all rather Rococo. * |
