Perth

6-8 October

Arriving in Perth, we had some time to kill before meeting the owner of the apartment where we would stay, so we paid a short visit to the Botanic Garden in King Park. After failing to find everlasting daisies anywhere in the bush, there was a display of them in the middle of Perth. †
This is Sturt's Desert Pea, the floral emblem of South Australia. †
  Large-fruited Mallee. *
An old Boab, and the view over the Swan River. *
The next morning, we took a free bus back to the Botanic Garden. *
  *
  South Stirling morning Iris. †

  Boronias. *
  Banksia. *

Then by two free buses to Barrack Street Wharf, where this Bell Tower was built in 2000. It contains bells from St Martin in the Fields in London, a gift from the Queen. *
We found that a boat would be leaving shortly for a cruise along the Swan River to Fremantle and back, so we decided to take the trip. This was a huge car carrier that had just arrived in Fremantle. *
Container ship and attendant cranes at Fremantle. *
Perth from the Swan River. *

The next morning (the last day of our holiday), we walked to the Art Gallery of WA in Northbridge. This is British Modern (1969) by John Brack. †

The Art Gallery had an exhibition of entries for the Black Swan Price for Portraiture. This is Tom Kenealy, painted by Michael Simms. †
This very striking work is a self-portrait by Brendan Derby, called Down by the river. †
Lynn thought this was the outstanding work. Painted by Tessa McOnie, it is called Kimba, a portrait of Kimberley Benjamin. *

That is all the places we visited, but there is a page with information about our hotels.
